PHASE supports growing SMEs with fractional financial and operational leadership during periods of growth, change and transition. Partnering closely with founders and leadership teams, PHASE helps bring clarity to finances, sharpen priorities and strengthen execution.

Most engagements start with an Initial Review & Action Plan, with ongoing fractional support available where it adds value, providing senior leadership in a flexible, practical way.

Services we offer

Initial Review & Action Plan

A structured review to create clarity and a practical plan for the next phase.

Best for: new clients, situations where priorities aren’t yet clear or when you want an external, experienced view before committing to ongoing support.

What you get:

  • Review of financial position, cashflow, reporting and key risks

  • Review of operational cadence (KPIs, meetings, accountability, decision-making)

  • Identification of the few priorities that will make the biggest difference

  • A short written action plan with recommended next steps

  • Debrief with founder/leadership team (and investors if relevant)

Typically this stage takes around two to four weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the business and scope of the initial project.

Fractional CFO

Senior financial leadership, embedded and practical.

Best for: businesses that need tighter cashflow control, better forecasting, and stronger financial decision-making.

What you get:

  • Cashflow visibility, forecasting and scenario planning

  • Monthly management reporting that supports decisions, not just compliance

  • Investor and board reporting (what matters, what’s changed, what’s next)

  • Pricing, margin and unit economics where relevant

  • Strengthening finance processes without unnecessary complexity

One day per week, minimum term three months. This is necessary to allow enough time to have a meaningful impact.

Fractional CFO & Operational Leadership

Financial leadership plus operational structure and performance rhythm.

Best for: businesses where growth is happening but the operating model isn’t keeping up, or where accountability and execution need strengthening.

What you get:

  • Everything included in Fractional CFO, plus

  • Strengthening finance processes without unnecessary complexity

  • KPIs, dashboards and performance cadence

  • Leadership team structure, accountability and meeting rhythm

  • Operational prioritisation and execution support

  • Hands-on support through periods of change or transition

One and a half to two day per week, minimum term typically three months. This is necessary to allow enough time to have a meaningful impact.

Board & Investor Support

Independent board-level input, with or without an operational engagement.

Best for: investors and founders who want experienced financial and operational oversight at board level.

Typical involvement:

  • Formal Non-Executive Director or Board Advisor appointment

  • Financial and operational challenge and governance

  • Support during investment, restructuring, or exit processes

  • Linking board priorities with what’s actually happening in the business

Project-Based Support

One-off pieces of work, delivered quickly and ready for you to use.

Examples include:

  • Business plan and financial model (including scenarios)

  • Cashflow rebuild and short-term liquidity planning

  • Board pack and KPI framework redesign

  • Investor readiness or exit preparation

  • Cost reduction and margin improvement plans

Pre-Exit Preparation & Transaction Support

Preparing businesses for investment or sale, without disrupting day-to-day performance.

Best for: Founder-led businesses thinking about exit 12-24 months before they formally engage advisors.

Typical involvement:

  • Strengthening financial reporting and forecasting

  • Improving cashflow visibility and working capital discipline

  • Building robust KPI dashboards and board reporting

  • Enhancing governance and management structure

  • Identifying and resolving financial or operational risks early

  • Supporting management through diligence and buyer interaction

The difference between a strong outcome and a successful process is preparation.
